DA-014 - “The Holdable Fire”

Secure Containment Guidelines:

 DA-014 is to be kept in a standard anomalous item locker at Site-██. Access to DA-014 requires Level 2 clearance and can only be granted with the permission of at least two Level 3 personnel. DA-014 must be handled with heat-resistant gloves and stored in a fireproof container when not in use.

Description: 

DA-014 is a small, translucent orb, measuring 5 centimeters in diameter. The orb is capable of producing flames that are visible and emit heat but do not burn anything they come into contact with. The flames are warm to the touch and can be held safely by human hands for extended periods of time without causing any discomfort or harm.

DA-014's flames have a temperature of approximately 40°C (104°F), which is slightly warmer than the average human body temperature. The flames are also capable of changing colors, ranging from a soft orange to a bright blue. DA-014's flames will extinguish themselves if not held for a period of 24 hours.

DA-014's most notable feature is that it has a calming effect on those who hold it. Subjects report feeling relaxed, content, and stress-free while holding DA-014. This effect is not limited to humans, as animals that have been exposed to DA-014 have also demonstrated a calming effect.

However, DA-014 has a significant drawback. The calming effect is only temporary and wears off within 24 hours of releasing DA-014. Those who have become accustomed to holding DA-014 for long periods of time have reported feeling anxious, irritable, and even experiencing withdrawal symptoms after being separated from DA-014.
