DA-033 - “Polio Extremus"

Object Class: Dangerous

Secure Containment Guidelines:
Due to its high contagion rate and potential catastrophic consequences, the primary focus of containment efforts is to prevent the further spread of DA-033. Infected individuals must be immediately quarantined in isolation chambers to minimize transmission risks.

DA-033 is to be contained within a Level 4 biohazard facility at Site-███. The facility must have a negative pressure system, multiple airlocks, and a complete isolation chamber for infected subjects. Access to DA-033 is restricted to authorized personnel with Level 4/DA-033 clearance. All personnel entering the containment area must wear full-body hazmat suits and follow strict decontamination protocols upon exiting.

DA-033 instances are to be stored in specially designed hermetically sealed containers within a high-security vault. Any unauthorized individuals attempting to access DA-033 are to be detained and quarantined immediately.

Description:

DA-033 refers to an extremely contagious strain of the poliovirus (Poliomyelitis) designated as "Polio Extremus." This variant is derived from individuals infected with the poliovirus in the present day, manifesting enhanced virulence, increased transmission rates, and resistance to conventional treatment methods.

Transmission:

DA-033 is transmitted primarily through direct contact with bodily fluids of infected individuals. It is highly contagious and can be contracted through airborne particles, saliva, feces, and contaminated surfaces. The virus has shown an ability to survive on surfaces for extended periods, further contributing to its rapid spread.

Symptoms:

Infected individuals initially experience symptoms similar to common flu, including fever, headache, sore throat, fatigue, and muscle pain. However, as the virus progresses, it attacks the central nervous system, leading to severe and irreversible damage. The infected individuals may exhibit paralysis, muscle weakness, respiratory distress, and even total paralysis, rendering them incapable of voluntary movement. In some cases, complete quadriplegia (paralysis of all four limbs) has been observed.

Treatment:

No effective treatment or cure for DA-033 has been discovered to date. Traditional polio vaccines and antiviral medications have limited efficacy against the virus. Infected individuals require extensive supportive care, including assisted breathing, physiotherapy, and pain management. The mortality rate among infected individuals exceeds 95%, with survivors typically left with severe neurological damage.

Addendum: Incident DA-003-01

On ██/██/████, a breach occurred at Site-███, resulting in the escape of three infected DA-033 instances. Despite immediate containment efforts, the instances managed to infect ██ personnel and escape the facility. The affected individuals have been tracked and placed under strict quarantine. All necessary precautions are being taken to prevent further transmission.

Research on potential countermeasures has been intensified, and a global health alert has been issued to inform medical authorities and governments worldwide about DA-033. The Foundation is collaborating with relevant organizations and agencies to contain the outbreak and develop effective treatments and preventive measures.

Efforts are ongoing to locate and recontain the escaped instances. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.

Note: The Foundation takes the DA-033 outbreak extremely seriously, and all personnel are urged to strictly adhere to containment protocols and safety measures. Failure to comply with these protocols will result in immediate disciplinary action and may lead to severe legal consequences.
