DA-056 - "The Audio Archive"

Secure Containment Guidelines:
 
DA-056 is to be stored in a soundproof, climate-controlled storage vault at Site-XX. The vault must be equipped with an audio suppression system capable of neutralizing any inadvertent activation of DA-056. The storage area must be guarded by at least two armed security personnel at all times. Access to DA-056 is restricted to Level 4 personnel or higher with explicit authorization from the Site Director. All personnel granted access must undergo psychological evaluation and receive thorough training regarding the potential psychological effects of DA-056. When handling DA-056, personnel must wear noise-canceling headphones and gloves made of non-conductive material. Direct contact with DA-056 is prohibited to minimize the risk of unintended activation. No more than one record should be handled at a time.


Description:
DA-056, also known as “The Audio Archive”, is a small metallic box, that measures 7cm by 9cm, and has an area of 63cm squared. There is a speaker within the box and a button on the exterior. When the button is pressed, it plays one of the 76 known noises which is on the “Audio Archive”. These noises can cause the hearer distress, anxiety and in extreme circumstances, PTSD. There is no way of predicting which of the 72 noises that plays from the box.


Addendum:

Research into the potential memetic properties of DA-056 is ongoing. Instances of unexpected emotional reactions among personnel have prompted additional safety measures during testing and analysis. Further investigation is required to understand the origin and purpose of the Audio Archive.
