DA-081 - “The Preserving Paper”

Object Class: Safe

Secure Containment Guidelines:

DA-081 is to be stored within a secure anomalous object containment locker at Site-██. Access to DA-081 requires Level 2 clearance or higher. The locker should be equipped with a fire suppression system and temperature monitoring to ensure the safety of DA-081.

Description:

DA-081 is a single sheet of paper measuring 21.6 cm x 27.9 cm (8.5 in x 11 in). It exhibits two anomalous properties, as described below:

  1. Eternal Preservation: DA-081 possesses the ability to indefinitely preserve any text or drawings written or printed on its surface. The ink or graphite used on DA-081 remains vibrant and readable without fading, smudging, or deteriorating over time. This effect is not limited to any specific type of ink or writing implement.

  2. Fire Resistance: DA-081 is highly resistant to fire and cannot be ignited or burned by conventional means. It remains unharmed even when exposed to extreme heat or flames. This property extends to the ink or graphite used on DA-081, which remains unaffected by fire.

Addendum: Incident DA-081-01

On ██/██/████, during routine testing, DA-081 was accidentally subjected to an open flame. Dr. █████, the researcher involved, inadvertently ignited the paper while conducting an experiment to test its fire resistance. Despite the direct exposure to the flame, DA-081 did not catch fire or sustain any damage. The fire extinguished upon contact with DA-081's surface, leaving the paper unscathed.

Following this incident, DA-081's fire resistance property was reclassified from a secondary anomalous effect to one of its primary properties.

Discovery:

DA-081 was discovered on ██/██/████, in an abandoned residence following a fire incident. The house belonged to Mr. ██████, a retired historian known for his extensive collection of rare manuscripts. All other paper-based documents in the residence were destroyed by the fire, except for DA-081, which remained intact and unharmed.

Upon retrieval, Mr. ██████ confirmed that DA-081 did not exist within his known collection, suggesting its anomalous nature. Mr. ██████ was administered Class-A amnestics and released.

DA-081 was subsequently transferred to Site-██ for containment and further study.

Experiment 1:

Procedure: DA-081 was placed in a controlled environment and exposed to a direct flame from a standard butane lighter for a period of 5 minutes.

Results: DA-081 did not catch fire or sustain any damage. The flame extinguished upon contact with DA-081's surface.

Experiment 2:

Procedure: DA-081 was placed in an incinerator set to reach temperatures of 1000°C (1832°F) for a period of 30 minutes. Results: DA-081 remained unharmed and did not catch fire. The ink or graphite used on DA-081 remained intact and readable.

Experiment 3:

Procedure: DA-081 was placed inside a furnace set to reach temperatures of 2000°C (3632°F) for a period of 1 hour.

Results: DA-081 remained unharmed and did not catch fire. The ink or graphite used on DA-081 remained intact and readable.

Note: Due to DA-081's resistance to fire and its preservation properties, it has the potential for valuable use in the archival and safeguarding of important documents. However, further testing and research are required to fully understand its properties and potential applications.

DA-081 represents a unique anomaly, offering both eternal preservation and fire resistance. As a No Danger-class object, it poses no immediate threat and can be safely contained and utilized for its intended purposes within the Foundation.
