DA-129 - "The Enigmatic Mirror"
Object Class: Medium
Secure Containment Guidelines: DA-129 is to be contained in a specially designed containment room at Site-██. The room must be 5m x 5m x 5m, lined with non-reflective materials to prevent any accidental interaction with the mirror's surface. Access to DA-129 is restricted to Level 3 personnel or higher. Any interaction or testing with DA-129 requires prior approval from at least two senior researchers. During testing, no fewer than two security personnel must be present, and all personnel must avoid direct eye contact with the mirror's reflection.
Description:
DA-129 is a large, ornate mirror measuring 2 meters in height and 1 meter in width. The frame is constructed of an unknown black metallic substance, intricately carved with symbols and patterns that do not correspond to any known language or culture. The mirror surface itself appears normal until an individual makes eye contact with their reflection. At this point, the mirror's anomalous properties manifest.
When a person views their reflection in DA-129, they experience a temporary dissociation from their physical body. Observers report seeing their reflection moving independently, often engaging in activities that the real person is not performing. This phenomenon lasts for several minutes, during which the individual feels a strong compulsion to touch the mirror. Those who do so find themselves transported into an alternate reality contained within the mirror, while their physical body remains in a catatonic state in the real world.
Inside the alternate reality of DA-129, individuals encounter a distorted version of their surroundings, populated by eerie, shadow-like entities that mimic the appearance and behavior of the people they know. These entities often display hostile and unpredictable behavior, posing significant psychological and physical threats to the person trapped within. The only known way to escape the mirror's alternate reality is to locate and touch an identical mirror within that dimension, which returns the individual to their original body. However, prolonged exposure to the alternate reality can result in severe psychological trauma and long-term mental health issues.
